Hill Voice, 11 August 2026, Bandarban: It has been alleged that yesterday (10 August), 4 innocent villagers, including a teenager, were beaten up by the army in Janiram Para (Botgachpara) village of Ward No. 8 of Bolipara Union of Thanchi Upazila under Bandarban district.
Yesterday, around 12 noon, personnel of a group of Bangladesh Army from the Alikadam military zone in Bandarban asked harassing questions and inhumanly beat the villagers without any reason.
The villagers who were beaten up are: 1. Solomon Tripura (18), son of Maninga Tripura; 2. Jiban Tripura (15), son of Maninga Tripura; 3. Jagadish Tripura (21), son of Nathichandra Tripura and 4. Elisai Tripura (28), son of late Aira Tripura.
Among those beaten, Jiban Tripura was seriously injured and villagers are reportedly taking him elsewhere for treatment today (August 11).
According to local sources, a large group of army led by the Zone Commander from Alikadam Army Zone has been stationed in the Kyachupara area of Bolipara union in Thanchi since August 5 and has started patrolling the surrounding areas. A group of the army numbering 20 from the said contingent went to Janiram Para (Botgach Para) village of Bolipara union yesterday.
The army personnel interrogated the four villagers, asking them various harassing questions such as ‘whether the Shanti Bahini members come to their area, whether they stay here, etc.’ and at one point severely beat them.
At one point, the soldiers found a piece of a country-made gun butt abandoned in the village. Then, when the soldiers asked the villagers if they had any guns, the villagers gave the soldiers two country-made ‘Gada Guns’ used for hunting wild boar. After the soldiers looked at the guns, they returned them to the villagers.
The army then ordered the four beaten villagers to be present to the BGB camp in Bolibazar on next Sunday and left.
It is learnt that the army group of Alikadam Army Zone is currently stationed in Kyachupara village and the zone commander himself is harassing the villagers by calling them and asking them various questions. This is said to be causing a major disruption to the normal life of the villagers in the area.
