Strong condemnation by Oikyo Parishad over brutal murder of temple Sebayet Nayan Sadhu, exemplary punishment of the perpetrators demanded

Hill Voice, April 26, 2026, Dhaka: Bangladesh Hindu Bouddha Christian Oikyo Parishad has expressed strong anger, condemnation, and demanded the arrest and exemplary punishment of those responsible for the brutal murder of Nayan Sadhu, the Sebayet of the Sri Sri Sarbojonin Shiv Kali Temple in Cox’s Bazar.

This statement was made through a press release signed by Acting General Secretary Monindra Kumar Nath on April 25.

According to the press release, “On April 19 at around 9:00 PM, two unidentified individuals called and took away Nayan Sadhu, the Sebayet of the Sri Sri Sarbojonin Shiv Kali Temple located in Khurushkul Union under Cox’s Bazar Sadar Upazila, out of the temple. After he went missing, his wife, Anjana Shil, immediately informed the police station. Three days later, on April 22, his brutally murdered body was recovered from a deep forest some distance away from the temple. His burnt body was found hanging from a tree.”

The Oikyo Parishad strongly condemned and protested the incident and demanded the immediate arrest of those responsible and exemplary punishment.

On April 24, 2026, a delegation led by Cox’s Bazar district president Advocate Dipankar Barua Pintu, along with Vice President Rajbihari Das, Joint Secretary Dr. Parimal Kanti Das, Swapan Guha, Chanchal Dasgupta, and indigenous leader Mongkhola, visited the scene. The leaders also met with the Officer-in-Charge and Investigation Officer of the concerned police station. They demanded uncovering the real motive behind the murder, identifying the perpetrators, and bringing them to justice swiftly.

Meanwhile, on April 25, a human chain, protest rally, and demonstration march were held at the National Press Club premises in Dhaka under the banner of various organizations affiliated with the Minority Unity Alliance. Youth Oikyo Parishad and Student Oikyo Parishad affiliated organizations of the Oikyo Parishad, also participated in the protest.
