Hill Voice, 16 May 2026, Rangamati: Yesterday Friday (15 May), a disabled Chakma girl (16) was allegedly raped by a Bengali fish trader named Md. Saiful in Bandukbhanga union of Rangamati upazila.
It is learnt that the father of the accused rapist, Md. Saiful (19), is Md. Selim, his mother is Bibi Begum and his house is in the Puran Bosti area of Ward No. 1 of Rangamati Municipality.
It is learnt that at around 10 am Yesterday, fish trader Md. Saiful went to buy fish in the Bandukbhanga union area like any other day. But instead of buying fish from local fishermen, Md. Saiful went to Dipayan Chakma’s house in Changrachari village of the same union. At that time, there was no one else in Dipayan Chakma’s house except his disabled teenage daughter.
Then Md. Saiful found Dipayan Chakma’s teenage daughter alone and raped her. At this time, when the victim screamed, neighboring villagers rushed to the spot and caught the rapist Md. Saiful while he was trying to escape.
It is reported that around noon today, the victim’s family members and neighbors took Md. Saiful to Rangamati Kotwali Police Station and handed him over to the police.
The police then advised the victim’s guardian to take the girl to the police station. As of the time of writing this report, the victim, her guardian and two members of the local union council are reportedly still at the police station.
Police are reportedly conducting a medical examination of the girl.
However, it is not known whether a case has been filed in this regard.
